the FAW

|
While
the Football Association of Wales (FAW) is responsible for
administering the rules and regulations of the sport while
the FAW Trust is charged with football development. The
Trust recently launched a strategy for the development of
disability football focussing on five key areas:
Participation
To provide players with a disability the opportunities to
participate within regular organised coaching and competition
structures. The key aim being the development of a pan-disability
football club in each local authority of Wales.
Development of Clubs &
Competition Structures
To improve the standards of existing and new clubs through
approved criteria and to develop new teams and competitions
on a local, regional and national level.
Coaches & Volunteers
To recruit new coaches, develop existing coaches, officials
and volunteers to support the organisation and structure
of disability football in Wales.
Identification & Support
of Talented Players
To raise standards of play to support the future success
of potential national disability specific teams.
Profile
& Media Awareness
To increase positive awareness of disability football in
Wales.

Football Associations |
The
game of football is controlled at local level by County
Football Associations. Each regional association has a football
development officer, who is responsible for implementing
the strategy. This is delivered in partnership with the
Disability Sport Wales officers.
