The FA's Disability Football Strategy has firmly placed the FA as the world leading governing body in the development of disability football. The success of the strategy has seen an explosion of opportunity through schools programmes, Ability County and Charter Standard Clubs, regional football festivals and leagues, through to Coaching Centres and the England imparement specific squads

Although the strategy includes participation for all, it enables elite performers to be guided through a "Player Pathway" to the national teams.

The Football Association currently run 8 England Football Squads and Development Squads for the impairment groups. These squads represent England in friendly internationals as well as in European and World Championships.
